Hygiene

How we clean everything

This is the question most visitors want to ask and feel awkward asking. So here is the answer in full.

The clean, quiet lounge inside SEREN
The lounge at SEREN.

Metal tools

Cuticle nippers, pushers and tweezers are scrubbed, rinsed, sealed into a pouch and run through an autoclave — pressurised steam at 121°C. The pouch stays sealed until it is opened in front of you. If we forget to open it in front of you, please ask us to.

Single use, every time

Nail files, buffers, pedicure bowl liners, wax spatulas, lash micro-brushes and towels are used once. Files are not sanded down and reused. Spatulas are not double-dipped into the wax pot.

Surfaces and hands

Work surfaces, chairs and massage beds are wiped with disinfectant between guests, and linens are changed every time. Technicians wash hands in front of you and wear a fresh mask for lash work.

Ventilation

The nail area is ventilated and we use low-odour products. It should not smell like a nail salon in here.

Questions people ask

Can I watch you open the tools?

Yes, and we would prefer it. Ask at the start and we will open the sealed pouch at the table.

Can I bring my own tools?

Of course. Bring them and we will use them.

What if I have a nail infection or damaged nail?

Tell us before we start. Depending on what it is, we may treat around it or recommend you see a doctor first. We will not work over an active infection.
